# How to convert a variable to a string variable for use with plot text

Hello I have a small problem with a game I am currently making. here is some code from my game....

CASE 5
FOR m = 1 to 5
IF dice1(m) = 5 then
LET five = five + 5

END IF
NEXT m

In this code the variable that is being recorded is "five" with

LET five = five + 5

But I am using an image for a score card, so I have to use plot text. Here is my plot text code...

PLOT TEXT, AT 200,245: five\$

I need some thing to let five = five\$

I tried the following...

CASE 5
FOR m = 1 to 5
IF dice1(m) = 5 then
LET five\$ = five\$ + 5

END IF
NEXT m

But I got a wrong type error.

I also tried the following...

LET five = five\$

that got errors as well.

### numbers and strings

Hi,

I sent you an email on this subject but for the benefit of others:

To convert numbers to strings use:
LET string\$=STR\$(number)

To convert string\$ to numbers use:
LET number=VAL(string\$)
