talking to a serial port

Hi guys,

Anyone know what the command is to send a byte of data to a serial port or other I/O address? Many years ago I saw variations like:

OUT (-771,172)...the minus determines it's an external I/O port

or

CALL POKE (in the really old versions.

I have the Bronze version. Can it even be done in these newer versions?
