6.02 Delete Bug

Every time I press delete to delete a character, the cursor goes back to the beginning of the line.

Delete Key

I have just checked out versions 5.601, 5.602 and 5.603 with Win95, Win98 and XP (but not Vista) and the delete key works correctly by deleting the next character forwards and the backspace deletes the previous charcter.

I have not yet checked out whether NUM LOCK or CAPS LOCK or SCROLL LOCK has any effect the delete key. Also I have not checked whether the INSERT key has any effect on delete. INSERT is a togle action key that allows you to insert characters (normal) or over-type.

Delete Key

I have Vista and Del makes the cursor jump back to BOL regardless of the state of Caps, Num or Scroll Lock. Could I get a new link to the beta? I've had such trouble getting a good download that my copy may be suspect.

Delete key

Hi Tom,

I am in the process of writing my own version of the TrueCTRL.trc TXED control. This is the core of the new editor, but it has a number of foibles that are increasingly difficult to deal with because the source code is part of the built-in OBJECT routine. Writing my own version will mean I have full control of keystrokes and what happens on screen.

At present the TXED control absorbs keystrokes before I have access to them in the editor so I cannot prevent the cursor going back to the beginning of the line. It also absorbs all the F keys so I cannot use them to reproduce how the old DOS editor worked.

Beta version

Hi Tom,

Can you send me an e-mail so that I have your e-mail address and then I can send you a fresh beta copy using SENDUIT.COM

Please be sure to un-install any previous version of the new editor before installing the new version. The latest beta version is the SILVER edition 5.603.
